unit 2: task 2016
Diary: Same old, same old.
uWhy I chose this theme
I chose this theme because, when I was looking at Pinterest, it impacted me and caught my attention. All the writing in it appeals to me. I love writing in my own diary and I also enjoy reading people's biographies as well as fiction books and Japanese graphic novels. What I find inspiring about the photo is that I feel pulled into the person's mind and I, in turn, want to draw people in to know, and understand, my thoughts, feelings, actions and attitudes. However, it also feels like a prompt to take time to remember and reflect. It sparks off loads of ideas in my brain. With photography, there are no rules and no limits to what you can achieve!
I researched Bill Brandt who was well known in the 20th century. He was born in Germany but moved to England, where he became well-known in Britain for his images, such as The English at Home. Brandt's father is English and also his mother is German. Brandt also likes taking photography at night.
Ezra Pound was an American poet. Brandt made his portrait. Pound offered to introduce him to Man Ray (a photographer I have studied before). Brandt used Man Ray's darkroom in Paris.
Night photography became one of Brandt's specialisms.
'For any young photographer at that time, Paris was the centre of the world. Those were the exciting early days when the French poets and surrealists recognised the possibilities of photography.'
Bill Brandt
Bill Brandt specialised in portraits, and would take photos of people doing everyday things. This links to my theme diary as it is documenting daily activities. I think the reason he took the photos was to get us to think about things we do not see or know about. His pictures gave people an insight into the lives of the rich and the poor.

bill brandt
Bill Brandt uses black and white photographs and it seems that he took a variety of pictures, some natural and some staged. The pictures are very thought provoking, and I feel that when I look at the pictures I have lots of questions to ask, such as what are they thinking, doing, etc.
Ann rosener
The thing I most like about Ann Rosener's photos are the different type of moods she captures and the natural way people are behaving. I have chosen photos she took, that aren't staged. I like the natural look and realise that a lot of my ideas involve staged poses. I would like to try both staged and natural photos for my own project.
Esther Bubley
One of the things I like about Esther Bubley is the very unique way she captures natural life. I like the images in black and white as they create an atmosphere.
Jimmy owenns
I really like Jimmy Owenns ideas of diary, using thoughtful words. I think I would like to try and take a few natural photos then overlap the photo with words or phrases that could have been written in a diary. I would like people to write down how they felt, what they had been doing, what they were thinking right now, etc. Jimmy Owenns has inspired me to look at presenting the theme diary in a different way.

How do I make my diary letter overlap with my picture?
First of all, I took a picture of myself and others, so I have lots of of people's thoughts of what happened to them at this very moment. I then scanned the diary sheet and uploaded a picture I took. Then I put it together from the diary in photoshop and I took a copy using command C and command V in diary sheet on image. However, it came out in a small size and this was an unusual thing for me, so I tried to find a new way to make it bigger so you could see it clearer. I tried a few different operations and eventually found out that Command T and then 4 together at the same time moves the image to a size you like. I entered ok so it would fit this size that I have changed. After I had worked out the sizing issues, I played around with different colour effects until I found one that I wanted... you just change from normal to multiply.
Then I tried different effects to see what made a good picture. My other project idea was to print the main picture of myself, then using my diary entry that I had already typed up earlier I would feed my photo through the printerthen using the printed image I would send it back through the printer so the words would appear on top of the image. againto print again so it will look good on it and overlay. Then it may quicker then while I made it in photoshop. However photoshop has more opinions of your choice and you are able to change it.
Eventally, when I have made up the idea that I will plan to print with the main and diary together at the same time.

ERROR OF TAKEN A PICTURE of print
WHAT WENT WORNG???
I finally took a picture of the main final picture. However, the camera does the flash that I didn't want because that makes the picture go bright and not clear enough to see, and the next one is blurry a lot, so I changed the modern force.
FINAL PIECES - PRINT TOGETHER
How I print it together?
First of all, I printed the original of myself and diary of text. I printed the original picture first then I put it in the printer with A3 plain papers. I put it on the top then I could print off the diary afterwards, and you could see me above and my similar my photoshop edit. I've been honest with myself that i think this is better than the photoshop edit because in photoshop it is a struggle to edit what I want and it took a long time to make the final pieces. Also I did put a picture of a diary on an image of myself and it suddenly that quick because there are no edit to do as 1 mins. That is good progress, however there not enough explanation.
