Personal Project #5: Abstraction
Introduction
Some people argue that all works of art are abstractions because they are representations of life rather than real life. Most people would agree that abstraction is a kind of sliding scale with naturalism on the one end and total non-representation at the other.
This project is about how the camera can draw attention to the formal elements of art in order to create images in which the subject isn't the most interesting element. Why not begin by having a look at the Abstraction Pinterest board for some ideas about how other photographers have approached this theme. |
My work project
I think Abstract it mean something missing or shadow on picture. I think the photographer was interested in mysterier because they are not clear, more darkest area and less light area. May old people might like interested because it ancient picture. My title would be Shadow Abstraction. One unusual thing this photograph is strange because we don't know nothing about this picture. I think the photograph look brown because it show that picture is might ancient. If I has to make a photograph like this i would change to attractive than original bored picture. I would use special app in Ipod. The best things about this photograph is unclear because it show that people try figure it out.
What is Abstration mean? Abstraction (from the Latin abs, meaning away from and trahere, meaning to draw) is the process of taking away or removing characteristics from something in order to reduce it to a set of essential characteristics. But also it mean you take a picture of something not clear. |

Light: Line: Repetition: Shape: Space: Texture: |
Which areas appear clearest or sharpest in the photograph? Which do not?
Which areas of the photograph are brightest? Are there any shadows? Does the photograph allow you to guess the time of day? Is the light natural or artificial? Harsh or soft? Reflected or direct? Are there objects in the photograph that act as lines? Are they straight, curvy, thin, thick? Do the lines create direction in the photograph? Do they outline? Do the lines show movement or energy? Are there any objects, shapes or lines which repeat and create a pattern? Do you see geometric (straight edged) or organic (curvy) shapes? Which are they? Is there depth to the photograph or does it seem shallow? What creates this appearance? Are there important negative (empty) spaces in addition to positive (solid) spaces? Is there depth created by spatial illusions i.e. perspective? If you could touch the surface of the photograph how would it feel? How do the objects in the picture look like they would feel? Is there a range of tones from dark to light? Where is the darkest value? Where is the lightest? |

I came to fine art photography after a career in the oncology pharmaceutical industry. Turning away from direct scientific observation, my work speaks indirectly, but with continued caring about how society’s institutions affect its members.
Working from self-assignments for extended periods, I use images to support my societal interests. With an eye toward directing the viewer’s gaze, I utilize light and shadow to create line and form, in a way that emphasizes essential elements, allowing the work to speak directly.
As an educator, my intention is to provide learners with enough fundamentals to be able to begin making images that are meaningful to them. In this process, I find it essential to emphasize images’ meanings and to place the value of tools used to make images as a secondary consideration. Absent such guidance, learners may be easily distracted from the interior work of making images that are meaningful to them, by the lure of a new lens or camera. I prefer to see learners create self-assignments that will sustain their interest.
My experience is that adult learners flourish most in environments that provide critique. Feedback is the breakfast of champions. When learners identify gaps between what they want their images to say and their mastery of the tools, it is appropriate to introduce new tools or to expand learners’ mastery of the tools they are using.

Palette Scan
Photoshop
First thing, I do is taken the Palette and put in scanner and wait until you click the overview in the computer. While I wait and the picture is come up and you can see a picture is actually taken picture. Then i taken about 7 picture and then after that, I save from desktop and login Weebly and upload that I done in computer.
After I upload, I decide I taken a picture by Mr Nichols and all that pictures, is put into Photoshop. And dirty paint palette with my photo, so I have to do to the same size. We go to file and exported to change a size and to make a perfect size to overlays. Then I can change colour background to make people think that a person is trying to paint me. Before I upload into weebly, I have to change smallest size, so it can be quickest upload than before.

Project Evaluation Template
- I did not research anything during this project, I discover in Pinterest and I learned that something miss and you cant see them like abstracted. My theme is abstracted and my first thought is boring and this design is not my style but when i changed the photo and made more like WOW! and is more than in abstracted. Firstly, I did take a photo by Mr Nicholls and them scan Palette and put in scanner and wait until you click the overview in the computer. While I wait and the picture is come up and you can see a picture is actually taken picture. Then i taken about 7 picture and then after that, I save from desktop and login Weebly and upload that I done in computer. My work is more like abstracted and i try developy my colour and more attraction for the audience.
- My final outcome is improved much more and is better. I hoping to create more like professional more blurred that no one can recognise a the person like me, and it work for me. I did successfully explored the theme, because i done some thing that i realised it a really abstracted. If I have a more time, maybe i will try cut the the second photo on first any photos. My personal is need take my hand off because i keep cover my face, so next time i will confident. I hoping that viewer will understand what i'm doing in project and makes people realise that everything can make you confused and everyday life you don't know what happen next and represent that show deaf language 'confuse'.
